Our deep connection to nature means that protecting and respecting the environment is central to the way we live our lives. From plant selection to our use of sustainable materials and power sources, we are committed to nurturing and preserving the world around us.

There is nothing we love more than designing and planting sustainable gardens.

Materials

Wood

Wherever possible we use timber that is sourced responsibly from forests certified by the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) and Perhutani.

Soil

We source from responsible suppliers and we only recommend and use soils with a British Standard. We also test soils in our gardens with a highly reputable soil advisory company

On-site

Zero Emission Tools

About seven years ago we made the switch to electric tools to reduce the emissions from garden equipment to improve local air quality and noise pollution.

Water

Through good soil management we can ensure plants can perform at their best with limited irrigation.

Organic approach

We reduce the use of any chemicals which have a detrimental effect on the ozone layer and environment. We also use biological control to manage pests, such as ladybird and lacewings to control aphids on lime trees

Vehicles

alaster-anderson-sustainable-gardens-vans-c.jpg

We have taken steps to improve the environmental efficiency of our transport and travel arrangements. Our vehicles run on Euro 6 engines and we limit the number of vehicles we need to run. We are committed to switch our full fleet of vehicles to eco-friendly ‘zero carbon’ fuel within five years.

We encourage our staff to use public transport where possible and support this through purchasing monthly travel tickets.

Deliveries are scheduled to limit unnecessary journeys. Work is also organised to be as efficient as possible in moving staff to sites avoiding unnecessary extra miles.

Waste Management

We currently recycle most of the waste generated on our sites. This includes nearly all plastics generated which are recycled at a Hampshire based company. This includes: all plant pots; plant trays; shrink wrap; bulk bags; polystyrene and all single use plastic bags used for the delivery of materials.
